Rubber used in bumper plates comes in different grades. Many lower-priced bumper plates use lower-grade recycled rubber, which can have a strong smell or an unpleasant, slick feel.

REP Fitness Black Bumper Plates use high-grade rubber. Although the difference may be hard to see in photos, their surface has a smooth, dry feel and a quality finish.

As rubber bumper plates, they do have a slight rubber smell, but it is relatively mild and fades over time. If you are particularly sensitive to rubber odors, we recommend Competition Bumper Plates or Urethane Equalizer Plates.

All sizes have an IWF-standard diameter of 450 mm, making them ideal for Olympic weightlifting training and CrossFit. They can also be used for squat, bench press, and deadlift training, making them a versatile choice for home gyms and personal training studios.

The plates fit standard 50 mm barbell sleeves. An embedded center ring allows smooth loading and unloading, while beveled edges make the plates easier to pick up from the floor.

In durability testing, these plates withstood more than 12,000 drops from a height of 2.4 m.
